JBABE – “Punch Me In My Third Eye”

Chennai’s Joshua Fernandez aka JBABE (who also fronts rockers The F16s) is out with his first piece of new music since 2019’s record – Play The Piano Drunk Like a Percussion Instrument Until The Fingers Begin to Bleed a Bit – in the shape of the raucous “Punch Me In My Third Eye.” The artist taps into his punk rock roots for the high-energy track that comes with a quirky music video directed by Lendrick Kumar.

Siddh – Lemoncholy

Last week, New Delhi-based artist Siddhant Subramaniam aka Siddh (from electronica duo Fopchu) dropped a heady three-track EP titled Lemoncholy, via Mumbai label Noosphere. The vibrant record includes glitch-based sounds as well as industrial sonic elements as Siddh comes out all guns blazing with hard-hitting electronic music. Talking about the record, the artist says, “These tracks are an accumulation of my moods from over the past four years.”

Raj – Lofi And Romances

On his latest effort, New Delhi guitarist-producer Rajkanwar Sodhi aka Raj showcases his vulnerable side with the six-track EP Lofi And Romances, via South KoreanSmile For Me. The record captures Raj’s dreamy soundscapes along with emotion-driven vocal melodies. There’s also his staple jazz sensibilities through his guitar playing while he also brings forth old-school beats.

Sanoli Chowdhury – A Distant Meadow

A year on since releasing her debut EP It’s All a Monotonous Game, Bengaluru singer-songwriter and producer Sanoli Chowdhury is now out with her sophomore effort, the five-track A Distant Meadow, via United Sound Records. Chowdhury’s dreamy songwriting is a magical sonic escape as she sings blissfully across the record that also includes ambient sounds and trip-hop beats.   

Kunal Dcosta and Nishat Chadha – “Tum”

Goa-based singer-songwriter Kunal Dcosta and Mumbai-based producer and composer Nishat Chadha join forces for an upbeat single titled “Tum.” The pair wrote the track during the lockdown and although the song includes a bouncy beat and bright chords that complement the cheerful vocals that can lift one’s mood. Lyrically, Dcosta says, “The song essentially talks about things we miss around us.” Chadha adds, “Each one of us wish to be back to when times were better.”

Vandita Narayan feat. Radon And Wetgropes – “Drunk on Passion”

On her latest indie-pop song “Drunk on Passion,” Bengaluru singer-songwriter Vandita Narayan collaborates with producer Wetgropes and guitarist Radon. Narayan’s energetic vocals carry the song while the production is funky, dancey and oozes summer feels. In a statement, Narayan says, “The core content of the track, in a nutshell, revolves around a female protagonist who declares her unyielding support and love to her partner.”
