Pragnya Wakhlu – Lessons in Love

After releasing singles to build momentum towards her third record, New Delhi singer-songwriter Pragnya Wakhlu is now out with the follow-up to 2017’s Kahwa Speaks in the shape of the six-track Lessons in Love. According to the artist, the new album is her most vulnerable yet and each track is born out of her experiences in different relationships. The record opens with the hauntingly beautiful “Whale Song” before we’re treated to the jazz leaning “Fallin’.” Lessons in Love then picks up in pace with the funky acoustic track “Nice Guy” and the pop-rock offering “Understood But Never Knew.” The penultimate track is the ethereal “Song of Hope” before Wakhlu closes with the Hindi jam band sounding “Akele Hi Sahi.” Wakhlu says, “There’s always something you learn about yourself or life through every experience you go through; particularly when it comes to matters of the heart. This album is a reflection of these life lessons.”

Anushka Jag – “All You Babe”

Mumbai-bred pop-rock artist Anushka Jag’s latest single “All You Babe” is vibrant and includes a catchy chorus as well as her textured vocals and slamming production from U.S.-based Duddy Brown. Talking about the song, Jag says, “’All You Babe’ is all about expressing your infatuation in an uninhibited way.”

Feeling Sunsets – “Mist…”

Producer duo Scarr. and Haen aka Feeling Sunsets’ new track has been inspired by the time they spent in the Lake District of Manchester a few summers ago. The song is a delicate piece with acoustic guitar plucking as well as warm strings and a relaxed groove.

RAGHAV – Reminiscence

Mumbai-based artist RAGHAV’s new nine-track lo-fi album Reminiscence was written as a way for him to cope with depression. The record includes slick beats as well as poignant production. The artist says, “The COVID lockdown affected my life a lot and sent me down a dark hole of believing that nothing is left for me to live anymore.” He adds, “I took advice from my friends and therapists to distract myself from negative and suicidal thoughts by doing some work, so I started making these lo-fi beats.”
