Anirudh Deshmukh – “Rehnuma”
Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Anirudh Deshmukh released his delicate sophomore single titled “Rehnuma” today. The acoustic ballad includes poignant piano parts and relaxing flute strains from musician Lokesh Dadhich as well as Deshmukh’s somber vocals as he sings about fading love. In a statement, the musician said, “[The song] will be relevant for anyone who has loved and felt the loss of that love.”
Sparsh Shikhar Sinha – Nam
New Delhi singer-songwriter Sparsh Shikhar Sinha recently ran a crowdfunded campaign to help with the release of his debut six-track album Nam. As the music swings through indie-folk and alt-rock songs, the record maintains the theme of one’s life from confusion to introspection, and finally acceptance.
Tienas x GHZI PUR – “Brian O’ Conner”
Mumbai hip-hop artist Tienas teams up with producer GHZI PUR for a hard-hitting one-and-a-half-minute banger titled “Brian O’ Conner.” The track opens with a siren-esque sample before the rapper chimes in with fiery verses over the slick beat. The song also comes with a crisp music video directed by Canfuse in which Tienas is seen performing the song in what looks like a concrete maze.
Easy Wanderlings – “Enemy”
Pune soul/easy listening group Easy Wanderlings are out with the first glimpse of their upcoming EP Caught in a Parade in the shape of the soothing “Enemy.” As the band sticks to their soft rock and soulful roots, there’s plenty to enjoy with their glittering backing vocals and dynamic arrangement. Lyrically, the band talks about cancel culture and how it has started a social change movement to hold individuals in power accountable for abusive actions. In a statement, the band says, “It has now become the go-to means of voicing disapproval against anyone, giving no room for change and growth over time.”
