Blu Attic feat. Various Artists – Resurface
New Delhi electro-dance producer Aniket Jain aka Blu Attic’s new four-track EP Resurface calls upon singers Gatha, Chayan Bhardwaj and Aaromal to create a house record juxtaposed with Indian classical vocals. The ambient and moody EP includes airy soundscapes and genre-bending moments, as well as crisp singing. In a statement, Jain said, “I believe that the combination results in something deeply soulful and touching. This EP is my best attempt at creating something of that sort.”
Subhoshis Das – War In My Head
Bengaluru guitarist-composer Subhoshis Das’s new nine-track album War In My Head includes melodic sections as well as full-blown distortion moments. The musician’s ability to tell stories through his fretwork is resounding as he weaves through a variety of sonic textures. In a statement, he said, “This album is a work with complete soundscapes and experimentation both on the recording and production part, as well as the modal expressions in compositions.”
Anubhav Silas – Twenty Four Hours
New Delhi-based djent instrumental artist Anubhav Silas showcases his slick brand of ambi-djent and progressive rock on his tasty five-track debut EP, Twenty Four Hours. The record features face-melting guitar solos, chuggy rhythm strumming as well as pulsating drum work. In a statement, he said, “It [the EP] covers the shift, moods, and spirit of the person with an unexpected end.”
Rubber Biscuit – Newly Strange Old Familiar
Bengaluru indie rock outfit Rubber Biscuit – consisting of vocalist-guitarist Ananth Menon and songwriter Rebecca Spurgeon – recently released their four-track debut EP Newly Strange Old Familiar. The songs on offer fall into the acoustic-folk realm and feature a laidback production touch with acoustic guitar strums, sublime keyboard solos, honest songwriting, breezy vocals and more. Apart from Menon and Spurgeon’s contributions, the EP also features U.S. drummer Doug Carraway, keyboardist Snehal Pinto and bassist Kaushik Kumar. In a statement, the band said, “The EP was recorded with nostalgic memories of [artists] America, Lobo, Bread and the Eagles foremost in mind. Those were the acts from our childhood that served as the gateway to western music.”
