Get Your Holi On: Six Gigs You Can Attend This Week

The festival of colors brings together electronic, hip-hop and fusion across the country

Zoom Holi Fest

March 21st, Taj Lands End, Mumbai

Soak in the festive spirit of colors at Zoom Holi Fest with two sets by seasoned Mumbai DJ Akhtar, rapper Badshah, vocalist Arjun Kanungo, playback singer Aastha Gill and Ludhiana-bred singer-songwriter Jasleen Royal.  The festival will be using organic colors and attendees can also indulge at the fest’s photo booth, sprinkler zone and Instagram Holi zone.

Holi Reloaded

March 21st, V Hotels, (Tulip Star), Mumbai

Holi Reloaded returns for its seventh edition this year with 24 homegrown artists slated to perform across two stages. Gurugram electronica artist Avneesh, Mumbai-based progressive house DJ Bullzeye, EDM duo Bass Monks and more will hit the main stage while the second stage called The Room will feature sets by techno artists such as London-based producer John Monkman and tech house artist Neyha Tolani among others.

Sunburn Arena with DJ Snake

March 21st, MMRDA Grounds, Mumbai

After French DJ Snake put out fires in India in the video for last year’s “Magenta Riddim,” the producer now makes his way to Mumbai to take part in the festival of colors with a performance at MMRDA Grounds for Sunburn Arena. Be prepared for scorching beats, heavy drops and the like. Also on the bill are opening sets by pop singer Ananya Birla, DJ Amann Nagpal, U.K. producer Siana Catherine and more.

Holi Moo! Music Festival

March 21st, Asiad Tower Lawns, Asiad Village, Siri Fort, New Delhi

One of the country’s longest-running Holi music festivals is Holi Moo!, which was previously called Holi Cow. The New Delhi gathering promises four stages this time, spanning world music, electronic, reggae and rock. There’s sets by 10,000 Lions Soundsystem by members of Goa-based Reggae Rajahs, groovy jazz-hop from Fopchu, Rajasthani folk-fusion act Barmer Boys, a collboration-heavy set from The Jass B’stards and singer-producer Lifafa, among others.

Maaholi

March 21st, Indiranagar Club, Bengaluru

Here’s proof that even India’s seasonal festivals want a piece of desi hip-hop’s posterboy. Mumbai rapper Divine and Gully Gang will headline this year’s edition of day-long multi-genre Holi showcase Maaholi in Bengaluru. Other acts include singer-songwriter Arjun Amori and producer-DJs including Solrak, Martin D’Souza, Roan, Dr. A and Rohit.

Colors of India

March 23rd, National Games Village, Koramangala, Bengaluru

Just a few days after DIVINE’s appearance in Bengaluru, rapper Emiway Bantai will take the stage at music and Holi celebration Colors of India. The star who’s racked up millions of views and followers on YouTube is warming up to performing live, and Colors of India marks one of his first gigs in Bengaluru. The lineup also includes DJ Hussain, DJ Talon and more.
