The fifth edition of Royal Enfield presents GIFLIF Indiestaan Music Festival returns to its home of Gurugram on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 2024, promising six bands across todays at Gymkhana Club in Delhi NCR.

The festival – which has previously been held in Bhopal – will open with performances by fusion band Trippy Sama, folk-fusion act Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Café and Mumbai rock act Anand Bhaskar Collective on day one. Rock veterans such as Parikrama and Agnee will perform on day two, with the opening slot currently to be given to a Delhi NCR-based band through the GIFLIF Indiestaan Hunt.

The artist hunt – which includes a cash prize of ₹20,000 and a performance slot at the festival – is open to solo and duo acts, as well as bands who make independent music and have a 30-minute set. The criteria from GIFLIF Indiestaan also states that language and genre/music style is no bar, welcoming rappers, singer-songwriters and bands. Thematically, the talent hunt stipulates that the “language should not be vulgar” in the music submitted. Applicants can submit a “good quality live jam session” video (maximum 10 minutes in duration) via an unlisted YouTube link. The deadline for submissions is 10 pm, Nov. 10, 2024.

From the entries received, five bands will get a 20-minute set in a final round, with the festival picking one winner to perform at GIFLIF Indiestaan.

A press release for the festival says, “The GIFLIF Fest, which originated as the Gurgaon International Film and Literature Festival in 2015, is making a grand comeback to its birthplace after travelling across India, in a new avatar. This time as the GIFLIF Indiestaan Music Festival, this event aims to fill the void of a major cultural IP in Gurugram while reigniting the city’s rock band culture.”

Festival director Karan Kukreja says in a statement, “We’re thrilled to bring GIFLIF Indiestaan back to Gurugram. Our goal is to create a unique music experience that resonates with the city’s diverse population and establishes Gurugram as a hub for indie rock culture.”
