The music festival will also feature Bengaluru folk-rockers Swarathma, rock artist Britto KC and the Band and a local act selected via their competition, Bhopal Bands Showdown
The upcoming edition of GIFLIF Indiestaan Music Festival in Bhopal on March 17th will bring in Bengaluru-based folk-rock artists like The Raghu Dixit Project and Swarathma, plus Punjabi folk-pop artist Rabbi Shergill, Mumbai-based rock artist Britto KC and the Band (the guitarist from Kabir Café) and more.
GIFLIF Indiestaan last took place on February 18th and 19th in 2023 and although now shortened down to one day due to the general elections, there’s a heavy-hitter lineup in store. With a theme of “celebrating hope,” a press release for the festival adds, “Despite the constraints of the election season, the festival promises an unforgettable experience packed into a single day. Starting just before the sunset and extending into the night, the organizers have meticulously curated a lineup that captures the essence of diversity and creativity in the indie music landscape.”
A band hunt called the Bhopal Bands Showdown is also underway, with six shortlisted artists announced three days ago. That includes bands like Nawazishein, Safar Music, Out of the Box, plus Yuvraj and Collective and Tannison Mathews. From the six artists, one will selected to open the day at GIFLIF Indiestaan, which takes place at Hotel Lake View Ashoka, at the MPT DDX Drive-in Cinema.
The Raghu Dixit Project arrive in Bhopal in the run-up to releasing their long-anticipated album Shakkar, while Swarathma are at GIFLIF Indiestaan on the back of releasing their latest single “Raushan.”
To build buzz around the festival and stay true to its theme this year, GIFLIF also enlisted Britto KC as composer and singer Gaurav Verma for a “Hope Anthem.” An official anthem for the festival, a press release states that the song “embodies the spirit of optimism and resilience.” A music video for “Hope Anthem” is presently in the works using AI tools that will “mirror the festival’s theme.”
Tickets for GIFLIF Indiestaan 2024 are currently priced at ₹499 (second arena, standing), ₹999 (front arena, standing) and ₹1,499 (VIP seating arena), among other packages.
