The gig series returns to Mumbai for its sixth edition and features hip-hop group Microphon3, alt rockers Unohu and fingerstyle guitarist Siddhartho Poddar
Gig series Generation WHY will be back in Mumbai on November 19th after hosting their fifth edition in Pune. The show–that takes place at Todi Mill Social for the first time”“will witness performances by Mumbai-based artists such as hip-hop group Microphon3, alt rock band Unohu and fingerstyle guitarist Siddhartho Poddar.
As regards to the lineup, Generation WHY originator Aftab Khan says, “The sixth edition features music from three diverse bands. We’ve got rap rock from Microphon3, who haven’t played a gig in ages, alt rock from Unohu [who are] back after a long hiatus and acoustic fingerstyle guitar from Siddhartho Poddar.”
On expanding to a new venue, Khan tells us, “To me, new venues equal new audiences. People who may not have been exposed to the music we are showcasing. Hence, taking the gig to a new venue is great because we’re taking bands to people who’ve never heard of them before. I’ve been to several gigs at Todi Mill Social and one that stands out was an epic Dinosaur Pile-Up gig. If we can deliver even a tenth of that energy we’ll have put on a great show.”
This will also be the first time Generation WHY will take place on a weekend in Mumbai. The organizer states that it will be an interesting gig to see how the artists complement each other and how the audience responds to each of them. He says, “I’m very excited and looking forward.”
Generation WHY Edition 6 will take place on November 19th, 2017 at Todi Mill Social in Mumbai. For more information, click here.
