Menon will play the gig despite a broken arm while Mumbai’s newest ‘pop/prog rock’ band will open for him
Following the release of his EP Small Victories in 2014, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Tejas Menon has been making his presence felt on the indie circuit. The past one year has witnessed him performing at most major festivals, from Bacardi NH7 Weekender to Mahindra Blues Festival.
At his show at Blue Frog tonight, Menon will perform with his band comprising guitarist Jishnu Guha, bassist Adil Kurwa, percussionist and keyboardist Aalok Padhye and drummer Jehangir Jehangir. Unfortunately, owing to an injured hand, Menon will not be able to play his guitar at the gig. On the upside, Warren Mendonsa will be taking up guitar duties for the day. Watch out for the band performing songs such as “Ruby” and “The Next Best Thing”, as well as new material from his upcoming album.
The show will also be experimental ”˜pop/prog rock’ band Ferry Tales’ first performance at Blue Frog. After the release of their first single “There She Goes,” we’re eager to hear more from the young talented group. Lead singer Akshay Dakhane’s voice reminds us of singer Brian Molko of English alt rock act Placebo ”“ childlike and instantly endearing.
Ferry Tales is a promising new act on the block that has managed to offer its own dynamic sound and we’d like to hear more of them in the future. In addition to songs from their upcoming EP There She Goes, the band will be playing a couple of covers as well.
Catch Tejas Menon and Ferry Tales at Blue Frog, Lower Parel on Thursday, January 7th 2016, 9:30 pm onwards. Click here for more details.
