Gig Preview: WWE Presents Make The Scene: The Bottom Line, Mumbai
Wrestling-style showdowns, talk show shenanigans and live music to take over Hard Rock Café this week
When was the last time a band tied up with Indian wrestling association WWE for a gig? A first-of-its kind, pro-wrestling themed gig, The Bottom Line will combine staged showdowns and talk show enactments between Indian metal heavyweights along with live music to set the mood.
Kicking off the evening will be the MTS House Band [complete with their own dramatic stage names], which includes drummer “Mr. Pretty” David D’Souza, guitarists “Blackman” aka Howard Pereira, and “The Kid” aka Shivang Prasad, bassist “Mallu Mauler” Krishna Kumar Venkitachalam and Spencer Pereira on vocals. Also on board are guest musicians Anand Bhaskar [of Hindi fusion rock band Anand Bhaskar Collective], rapper MC Manmeet Kaur and vocalist Mihir Joshi to revive some of pro-wrestling’s most popular theme songs.
Apart from high-energy covers of alt-metallers Alter Bridge and thrash pioneers Metallica classics, The Bottom Line is also set to entertain with a mock talk show [aptly titled The Scene Maker], featuring the Demonstealer [aka Sahil Makhija of extreme metal band Demonic Resurrection]against Dr Hex [aka Riju Dasgupta of horror metal band Albatross, death metallers Primitiv].
Ending the night is the ultimate one-on-one showdown between “The Conqueror” aka guitarist Chandresh Kudwa and “Valkyrie” aka guitarist Nishith Hegde [of Demonic Resurrection].
WWE presents: The Bottom Line will take place on December 3rd, at Hard Rock Café, Andheri, 8.30pm onwards. For more details, click here.
