For all the times Delhi’s week-long concert series The Gig Week hosted bands the capital rarely gets to see, from alt metal band Goddess Gagged to electro pop duo Shaa’ir and Func, their fourth edition involves an overhaul of sorts.

Starting November 8th, The Gig Week will provide a platform to several new and upcoming artists from Delhi, with the finale on November 14th, with a headlining performance by Delhi rockers The Superfuzz and Mumbai rock band Zero. Says The Gig Week director Anubhav Gupta, “This year focuses on our original intent with the series. Over the last three editions, it’s always been a platform for so many artists to kick off in the scene.” Gupta adds that everyone from singer-songwriters such as Shantanu Pandit and Dhruv Visvanath to Delhi blues/jazz rock band Soul’d Out have made their stage debuts at The Gig Week.

This year, new artists include Gurgaon based electronica/R&B duo Maya Moh + Muteverb, who made their stage debut at the Ziro Festival of Music in Arunachal Pradesh in September, soft rock band Chaos in the Capital, acoustic rock band Percussive Maintenance, folk fusion group Rangrez and electro-fusion act Spaces, among others. Says Gupta, “We got about 150 to 200 applications from Delhi artists to play and there were so many great bands in there that we couldn’t overlook.” In addition to new artists, the Gig Week also plays host to artists premiering new material, from Delhi funk rock band The Doppler Effect’s EP launch on November 12th and singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad debuting new material from his upcoming full-length album In Tokens & Charms on November 13th.
