Gini Searches for Peace Amid Introspection in ‘Sukoon’ Video

Dehradun-origin singer-songwriter goes three for three with her new song, which follows singles like ‘Ansuna’ and ‘Chaukhat’

Singer-songwriter Gini’s new song “Sukoon” and its music video looks back at a euphoric yet tumultuous time spent in search of bliss.

The Dehradun-origin artist has released her latest – which also has her as Spotify India’s Radar artist this month – on the back of delivering some of her most-streamed songs yet, including the singles “Ansuna” and “Chaukhat” earlier in 2024. Gini says in a statement, “Every new release is a step in a different direction. I don’t want to settle into one trodden trail, so I’d rather track a new spiral path, wherein it’s a slightly different direction with each step.”

“Sukoon” is out via Molfa Music and explores yet another side to Gini’s songwriting. A press release says, “If ‘Ansuna’ was a tender pop song about optimism, ‘Chaukhat’ captured the emotional tax of sadness while ‘Sukoon’ is a song about remembering to smell the proverbial roses, to cherish moments and feelings as you experience them.”

The 18-year-old artist adds in her statement, “The song is based on very strong emotions of wanting to feel sukoon. I’d written it during a period of solitude wherein I was reading and writing more than ever. I’d create worlds with every piece of literature I consumed and realized that I was moving through those worlds too fast; I wasn’t stopping to truly bask in the bliss, or sukoon of the books. So, I wrote a song to remind me to stop and appreciate the moments and the feelings I was experiencing.”

The song comes with a music video directed by filmmaker Bhavna Kankaria and produced by Molfa’s parent company, Jugaad Motion Pictures. Through quick and brief flashes in the beginning that encapsulate the long journey full of highs and lows, the video for “Sukoon” shows the artist in an introspective moment, looking back at the good and the difficult parts of a past relationship.
