Giorgio Moroder Previews Entire ‘Deja Vu’ Album in ‘Megamix’ Video

Clip mixes snippets of every song from disco pioneer's first album in 30 years

Giorgio Moroder’s first album in 30 years isn’t set for release until June 16th, but fans of the disco pioneer and the roster of pop stars he’s enlisted for Déjà Vu can now preview every song from the new album.

Directed by Jimes, the video for the Hyper House-produced megamix clip stars a trio of dancers ”” Ade Obayomi, Caitlin Kinney and Megan Kinney ”” who glide their way through snippets of each track.

The mix begins with the Moroder-only track “74 Is the New 24” and previews both new songs (“Back and Forth” featuring Kelis, “Tempted” featuring Matthew Koma) and previously released ones (“Déjà Vu” featuring Sia, “Diamonds” featuring Charli XCX). Britney Spears’ leaked cover of Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner,” however, is the only song to not be paired with a dance and is dramatically cut short to serve as the video’s finale. Other featured artists include Kylie Minogue, Mikky Ekko, Foxes and Marlene.

Moroder had been behind some of Donna Summer’s biggest and most iconic songs, including “Bad Girls,” “Hot Stuff” and “MacArthur Park.” He took a few decades off, last releasing a full album in 1985. In 2013, the Italian producer and DJ made his return to music when he collaborated with Daft Punk on the Random Access Memories track “Giorgio by Moroder.” “Daft Punk are the reason why I am here,” Moroder told Rolling Stone in November following the announcement of his new album.

Around the same time, he began playing his first-ever DJ gigs too. “I noticed that the audiences were so young, like 18 to 40,” he told RS. “I felt so young. I mean, I’m 74, but I still felt like part of this young generation.”
