Punjabi-Canadian hip-hop artist and producer Gminxr aka Gugundeep Singh Randhawa is making his way back to India after a few years, this time for a solo performance at food and music festival Zomaland’s Mumbai edition, taking place on Feb. 15 and 16, 2025.

Gminxr – the producer behind AP Dhillon hits like “Brown Munde,” “Insane” and “Spaceship,” among others – marks his live debut at Zomaland in February. The co-founder of Run-Up Records last performed in India as part of Dhillon’s The Takeover Tour in 2021, as a featured artist alongside theand collective’s members Gurinder Gill and Shinda Kahlon.

Gminxr tells Rolling Stone India about his upcoming India show, ”Music has always been more than just sound — it’s a way to tell stories, challenge stereotypes, and connect people across borders. What we’ve achieved with Punjabi hip-hop is just the beginning. At Zomaland, I’m not just performing; I’m sharing a piece of my journey, my culture, and my passion with the world. This is about creating a legacy, one beat at a time.”

It’s a step into the spotlight for Gminxr, who will perform in India just a couple of months after Dhillon performed to packed audiences as part of his December run of shows promoting The Brownprint EP. Gminxr, for his part, has been working with Punjabi duo Zehr Vibe as producer in 2024, pushing out their EP Breaking Through.

With over 1 billion audio streams and over 200 million YouTube views, Gminxr has also worked with Punjabi hitmakers such as Tegi Pannu (who is performing at Zomaland Mumbai as well) and Sukha in the past. Now, in the run up to Zomaland, the artist has also been teasing new music. He said in a recent post, “It’s all coming to Light. Can’t rush greatness. New season loaded.” Gminxr said in an Instagram post two days ago, “Took a step back to gather myself. Now I’m Locked in and ready! 2025 I’m Letting the music do the talking.”

In addition to Gminxr and Pannu, Zomaland Mumbai will also feature performances by Mumbai rap star Divine, New Delhi experimentalist Chaar Diwaari, singer-songwriter Nikhil D’Souza and veteran DJ-producer Panjabi MC, among others.
