Goa Gets a New Festival: GOAT
The first edition of the event will be held on January 27th-29th; to feature British DJ -producer Gilles Peterson, jazz composer Sarathy Korwar and many Indian acts
Goa might not be off the festival map after all. After the exit of two of its most popular music festivals, Sunburn and VH1 Supersonic, the coastal state is now home to a new event. GOAT, organized by London-based music and events agency GOAT, will be held on January 27th-29th at North Goa’s Ashvem and Morjim beaches.
The acts booked to perform at the festival include renowned U.K-based DJ-producer and record label owner Gilles Peterson, South African rapper Dope Saint Jude, soul electronic act Sorceress from New Zealand, U.S.-born jazz composer Sarathy Korwar and more. Indian acts include Mumbai names such as electro-folk act Donn Bhat + Passenger Revelator, producer Aqua Dominatrix, funk/nu-disco duo Madboy/Mink, electronica DJ and producer Sandunes and others.
The artists will perform across two stages and several DJ booths, and post 10pm, the festival will move to two indoor venues nearby. Apart from music, festival-goers will get a chance to indulge in activities ranging from yoga sessions to water sports like surfing and paddle-boarding.
Says Dave Gaydon, CEO, GOAT Music, “The reception has been so encouraging, we are very grateful to be working in such a progressive and creative landscape. We are counting down the days to January 2017.”
Tickets for the festival are now available, with day passes for Rs.3,500 and weekend passes for Rs.9,000. The festival is also offering a ”˜lux package’ for Rs.15,000 which offers incentives and access to a backstage lounge with a swimming pool, a bar and sets by special guest DJs.
