Last month, we reported that American alt-metal act Korn will be playing their first India tour this September. It has just been officially announced that the band  will be supported by three well-established bands from the country on their tri-city tour of Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bengaluru to be held from September 5th to September 9th. Mooz Entertainment, the company promoting the Korn India tour, confirmed that Mumbai-based Goddess Gagged, Boomarang from Aizwal and Galeej Gurus from Bengaluru will be opening for Korn.

Goddess Gagged is the youngest band on the bill who have been signed up for the opening slot in Mumbai at MMRDA Grounds on September 7th. Goddess Gagged guitarist Arman Menzies tells ROLLING STONE India about opening for a band that introduced him to metal. “Someone passed me a mix-tape of Korn songs when I was in boarding school and that just got me hooked to metal,” recalls Menzies, who plans to fill their 30-minute set with atleast one new song. “All of us are busy traveling at the moment, so we will try to put in new material, otherwise we will play our best tracks from the album [Resurfaces],” says Menzies.

Boomarang guitarist Boom sounds equally enthusiastic. “Since we heard the news that we will be opening for Korn, none of us have slept. We are writing new material and want to play a relatively newer set in Gurgaon,” says Boom. Boomarang will kickstart the Korn India tour by opening for the band on their first gig in the country on September 5th at Leisure Valley, Gurgaon.

Galeej Gurus, according to Mooz Entertainment A&R Advisor Bobby Duggal, was an obvious choice since the band has played with Korn previously. “Galeej Gurus have been around for 12 years and have opened for Korn at the Dubai Rock Festival. It only made sense to have them play with the band again on their home turf,” says Duggal. Galeej Gurus will open for Korn on September 9th in Bengaluru.
