GOT7 Launches New Social Media Channels Ahead of Their Comeback

The new digital presence also sees the introduction of a fresh logo and statement

May 06, 2022

Composed of JAY B, Mark Tuan, Jinyoung, Jackson Wang, Youngjae, BamBam and YUGYEOM, one of K-pop’s biggest groups GOT7 have launched a new digital destination to communicate with their fans.

Launched on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, the new social media handles display the group’s revamped identity with a new logo in place, which seems to be derived from an aerial shot of a seven-sided star. While the group has retained their original group greeting (“Come and get it, GOT7”), the revamped identity has ushered in a new statement that reads ‘GOT7 is our name.’

This announcement comes two weeks after Korean news outlet Joy News24 reported that the septet will be returning with new music next month. Following this, the hashtag #GOT7COMEBACK quickly made it to Twitter’s worldwide trends, with fans rejoicing at this news of a comeback. Members BamBam and Mark subtly confirmed the news with BamBam tweeting a simple ‘7’ and Mark publishing a tweet with seven green hearts (the group’s official color).

In an official press release shared by the group’s label (Warner Music Korea), GOT7 is “expected to release a new project in May.”

Following the expiration of GOT7’s contract with JYP Entertainment, the septet parted ways with the entertainment giant in January 2021 with the promise of growing as artists and making a group comeback soon. Since then, each member has highlighted their artistic prowess through a number of solo projects.

While Jinyoung has been extensively focusing on growing as an actor under BH Entertainment, the singer surprised fans last year with the chill, self-composed single “Dive.” Youngjae has been experimenting and pushing the limits of his expression through a handful of projects as a musician and actor under Sublime Artist Agency. YUGYEOM, the group’s youngest member, has been making strides in the R&B space under AOMG, while Wang has been building up his global dominance under his self-founded agency Team Wang and Sublime Artist Agency. Rapper-turned-vocalist BamBam is currently signed under ABYSS Company (home to K-pop superstar Sunmi), whereas Tuan has been surprising fans as a songwriter and vocalist in the U.S. It is also reported that the singer will be releasing an album this year. Leader JAY B was the last to announce his solo plans. Currently signed under H1GHER Music, it was later revealed that the vocalist was swamped with the legal matters surrounding the handover of all creative properties produced by the group from JYP Entertainment, which delayed the release of his solo musical projects.

Right before the GOT7 members embarked on their solo endeavors, the septet released the heartfelt single “Encore” under Warner Music Korea with a promise of keeping the group alive. Composed by Jinyoung and producer Trippy, “Encore” can best be described as a tribute, celebrating the relationship between GOT7 and their fanbase, Ahgase. Apart from the cinematography, melody and lyrics, one thing that stood out was the title of the song. An ‘encore’ is a form of an exclamation, often used by fans at the end of a concert to encourage the singer to keep performing, thus making the lyrics, “We will sing for you for the rest of the days too/ Encore! Encore!” even more impactful and sentimental.
