GOT7’s Jay B Joins H1GHR MUSIC

The South Korean singer becomes the second artist from GOT7 to join a label founded by rapper-producer Jay Park

May 11, 2021

After months of speculation and rumors, GOT7’s leader Jay B has officially confirmed his association with H1GHR MUSIC. Founded by Korean-American artist Jay Park, HIGHR MUSIC is one of the leading hip-hop and R&B labels in South Korea.

The company released a series of posts and videos over the past couple of days to tease the arrival of a new artist. The announcement video, released on May 11th, shows a biker exploring a gritty, post-apocalyptical terrain and making their way through a looming sand storm. The video concludes with the biker taking off their helmet, revealing himself to be Jay B– the latest addition to the H1GHR family.

The singer also announced that he will be releasing his first solo project with the label this Friday, May 14th. In addition to his work with K-pop giants GOT7, Jay B is a popular producer in South Korea’s R&B scene, often creating music under the name Def. with his crew Offshore.

Jay B is the final member of GOT7 to sign a deal with a new label post the group’s departure from J.Y.P Entertainment in January this year. Vocalist Jinyoung joined BH Entertainment, where he will be pursuing his talents as an actor and singer, youngest member Yugyeom signed with Jay Park’s other hip-hop label AOMG, and rapper BamBam with Abyss Company– also home to celebrated soloist, Sunmi. Vocalist Youngjae– who recently made waves thanks to his role in the South Korean musical, Midnight Sun– is pursuing his solo ventures with Sublime Artist Agency.

Other GOT7 members pursuing solo projects include rapper Mark, who recently picked America’s leading talent agency CAA to help expand his digital presence in the U.S., and Jackson Wang, who will be taking his music to the global stage through the joint efforts from his own label, Team Wang, and South Korea’s Sublime Artist Agency.
