The Second ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ Trailer Has Arrived

The teaser provides a closer look at the first new GTA game since 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V

Just days after announcing the hotly anticipated game would be delayed until May 26, 2026, the second Grand Theft Auto VI trailer is here.

The nearly three-minute clip from Rockstar Games gives an extended look at the in-game story: It opens with an older man greeting protagonist Jason Duval, who takes a scenic stroll through Vice City (the game’s play on Miami), before heading to jail to pick up his love interest (and partner in crime) Lucia Caminos, who’s the Grand Theft Auto universe’s first woman protagonist

The two then head home and jump in bed — but the romance is short-lived. The next scene shows them involved in an armed robbery, and the rest of the trailer intersperses their steamy reacquaintance with glimpses of the plot, which showcases the two in a Bonnie and Clyde-like spree through Leonida (Rockstar’s version of Florida), evading cops and street enemies with guns in tow.

The lengthy clip showcases the game’s impressive graphics, new features, and the sprawl of Leonida. It’s sure to excite gamers, but they’ll have to wait a little longer to get their hands on Grand Theft Auto VI. On May 2, Rockstar announced yet another delay on the game, the follow up to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V. The May 2026 date is much later than the Fall 2025 release date that Rockstar previously promised.

In a statement, Rockstar declared, “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.”

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier posted on the social media platform Blue Sky last Friday that the delay was no surprise internally within Rockstar. “Too much work, not enough time, and what appears to be a real desire from management to avoid brutal crunch,” he wrote. “GTA VI slipping to 2026 has seemed inevitable for months if not longer.”
