Great Society is the blues rock project of veteran guitarist Lou Majaw from Shillong. The band has had various members supporting Majaw over the years including Lew Hilt and Sam Shullai of HFT. Known for his frequent over-the-top theatricals at live performances and his annual tribute to Bob Dylan concert in his home town, Majaw is one of the most respected figures in Indian indie music.
The bands line up is- Lou Majaw, Arjun Sen, Rudy Wallang and Sam Shullai.
This band gets together mainly for “The Bob Dylan Fest” in Shillong on Dylan’s birthday which is another of Majaw’s projects. This is an annual event and over the years has gained quite a bit of press and publicity. The Ace of Spades also plays sporadic gigs besides the Dylan Fest.
