It is rather laborious for one to move out of their parents’ house and settle into an independent life. It is even more difficult for parents to watch their children grow out of their innocence and leave their protective walls, stepping out into the world all alone. Thankfully, in these times, we have had our fair share of phone calls to keep us close, however funny, emotional or frustrating they might be.
Exploring such a relationship dynamic between a mother-daughter duo, the Gujarati sitcom Kadak Mitthi is back with a second season. This Aarohi and Aarti Patel starrer is directed and produced by Anish Shah (Dhunki) and premiered on the OTT platform Oho Gujarati on July 20th.
Kadak Mitthi records sentimental, hilarious and extremely relatable conversations between a mother and a daughter over the phone when the latter moves to Mumbai for a job. Incessant dad (mom) jokes, eye-rolls and innocent jibes are a constant in the series and give it a comedic angle. While the show’s concept is simple, season 1 received an overwhelming response as it addresses many personal and social issues like mental health, work-life balance, crushes and relationships, nudging to build a friendship between Shivangi (Aarohi Patel) and Mayuri (Aarti Patel). Season 2 takes a step forward and introduces topical issues, including bashing fake Whatsapp forwards, the importance of voting, and even hard-hitting conversations like workplace dynamics and unmarried young people.
On the release of Kadak Mitthi Season 2, Abhishek Jain, Co-founder, Oho Gujarati, says in a statement, “While conversations between two individuals of a family are common and relatable, what makes Season 2 all the more special is the fact, it sheds light on some really important issues we all deal with in our lives.”
