What do Mumbai brutal death metallers Gutslit and Hyderabad death/thrash metallers Godless share in common? Well that’s an easy one – Bengaluru-based vocalist Kaushal L.S.

Gutslit’s bassist and founder Gurdip Singh Narang and Godless bassist Abbas Razvi both chuckle about how they have to check their vocalist’s schedule before any gig bookings, but there’s more that brings them together for their Eviscerating India tour – running through nine cities from May 8th to June 9th. Narang says, “Abbas and I have been here since donkeys years and slogging it out. The drive and the hard work, putting your music before anything else, getting on stage and delivering spot-on performances — that’s what drives both the bands.”

Razvi adds that there’s also major death metal influences, which each band takes in different directions – whether it’s Gutslit’s grind angle or Godless’s thrash leanings. Since December last year, a joint tour was in the works and the first thing they had to do was convince Kaushal. “We knew that if Kaushal could pull this off, it was good for Europe,” Razvi says, referring to Gutslit’s fourth European tour in June and Godless’ debut European tour in September.

The Eviscerating India tour kicks off in Imphal on May 8th, followed by shows in Shillong, Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Entirely self-funded, the tour will also include new material from Gutslit’s follow-up to 2017’s Amputheatre. Narang says, “We’re going to incorporate three new songs for sure. We’re trying to make it sound as unique as possible and still sticking to the roots of brutal death metal and grind. In terms of lyrics and concepts, we’re thinking of psychopath killers and how they go by the number of kills.”

Godless – who undertook a nine-city tour to promote their second EP Swarm late last year – are making their Kolkata debut this time. Razvi says, “We’ve been wanting to go there for a while, there’s a lot of people messaging from there. Luckily this new music venue opened up, so we’ve got a chance now and we’re looking forward to it.”
