The debut edition of the Baga beach party will feature international hardcore techno DJs; will begin at 10 pm and end at 5 am on January 8th-9th
Just when you thought Goa was recovering from the electronic music onslaught that comes disguised as the month of December, here’s another relentless beach party that will make its first appearance tonight, January 8th. Hardcore: Invasion is a dusk-to-dawn festival which will showcase the niche hardcore techno genre courtesy of an international line-up comprising names like Dutch DJs Angerfist and Radical Redemption, Ukrainian artist Miss K8 and Singaporean DJ Theo Gobensen.
The festival organizers are confident that being genre-specific works to the event’s advantage. “The point was to launch the debut edition this season to acquaint and educate people about the genre, and return with a bigger event later this year,” says Sylvester David of Moon13 Entertainment, who was surveying the arrangements on ground when we spoke with him on the telephone today. Â He adds, “Not many people know about the genre; in fact the people who are walking in are asking what the festival is all about and even the technicians who are managing the sound were curious to know what music it was when they heard stuff at the sound check.”
Apart from the night-long party, the festival will also offer adventure frills such as beer showers, mud fights, pool parties and zip lining. David is expecting a footfall of around 3,000 people tonight and double the number tomorrow. “I am sure Angerfist and Miss K8 will pull in a lot of crowd,” he says.
