Harley Rock Riders Season IV Goes To Six Cities This Year

In its fourth edition, Harley Rock Riders takes its music and bike series to six cities including Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Kochi, New Delhi and Mumbai. Starting August 8^th, the gig series will kick off with Mumbai bands such as punk pop band The Lightyears Explode and hard rock band Arquebus performing at Pune’s Hard Rock Café.

Also on the bill at other cities are favorites such as Kolkata pop rockers The Supersonics, Baiju Dharmajan Syndicate from Kochi and Barefaced Liar from New Delhi. Says Chennai rock ’n roll band Grey Shack’s vocalist Rohan Sen, “We are eager to play the Harley Rock Riders. These days, rock bands are sidelined unless they include a Carnatic vocalists or an electronica element. It’s  great to showcase our material here.” The Chennai band will perform their debut gig in Kochi as part of Harley Rock Riders next month. “Some of our songs are written around taking off on the highway. In fact our song “Dirty City” even begins with the sound of a bike revving,” says Sen, adding that they will play songs from their debut album Step Outside as well as some new material. “September will be a busy month,” says Sen, whose band will also be playing in Bengaluru on September 5^th and in Chennai on the 9^th. 

Vocalist Arsh Sharma from The Circus, who also played for the second edition of Harley Rock Riders, returns to perform at the Delhi edition this year. Says Sharma, “We got a great reception at the previous edition. The audience was great and the venue was massive.” This time the band plans to perform songs from their second album, Bats, and are currently working on some new material that they will showcase next month.

Rock bands across the country can also be part of the fourth edition, which marks 110 years of Harley Davidson. The “Find Your Freedom” contest invites musicians and bands to submit an original rock song around the theme of “Freedom,” which they can submit in the form of video and audio file here. Three entries will be selected to perform at the grand finale in Mumbai on October 12th, by a jury including 9XO channel’s Luke Kenny and multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Sidd Coutto. One winning band will get a chance to play three Harley events in 2014 as well as perform at the European Bike Week at Lake Faak in Austria next year.
