Harnoor Injects Fresh Energy into Punjabi R&B With ‘Luv Drug’

The song also brings in the artist's frequent collaborator, songwriter and composer Ilam

It’s not every day that a track drops and instantly hooks you. But then again, not every artist is Harnoor. His latest release, “Luv Drug” is exactly what the title suggests—a blend that’s as addictive as love itself. It is a catchy and melodious blend of Punjabi R&B with new age sounds, showcasing Harnoor’s signature style. For months, fans have been buzzing with excitement, ever since Harnoor first teased a snippet of the song on social media. Now that it’s finally out, it’s clear that the wait was worth it.

In a conversation with Rolling Stone India about his latest release, Harnoor shared that the inspiration behind “Luv Drug” comes from the universal experience of being “hooked to love.” He explained, “I wanted to create something that resonates with everyone, much like how people get addicted to certain things in life. The lyrics and composition are crafted to mirror that feeling of being unable to get enough of someone, even when you try. There’s a dangerous edge to that addiction, and I wanted to convey that through some of the lyrics.”

Collaborating with songwriter and composer Ilam, a frequent partner in his journey, Harnoor has proven that their chemistry is unmatched. “Ilam and I just clicked from the start,” Harnoor said. “Our collaboration has always been in perfect sync, and that’s why we’ve been able to deliver hits time and time again. I’ve learned so much from him, and we continue to push each other creatively.”

Harnoor’s rise began with the success of his hit single “Waalian” in 2020, a track that propelled him into the limelight. Since then, he has consistently released successful tracks like “Moonlight” and “Tareefan,” all while balancing the pressures of following up such a monumental hit. “I knew ‘Waalian’ would be big, but I didn’t expect it to become that big,” Harnoor says. “That success came with its own challenges, but it also motivated me to keep delivering the best flows and rhythms to my audience. ‘Luv Drug’ is a reflection of that commitment.”

“Luv Drug” marks the beginning of a fresh direction in Harnoor’s career. The track is part of a larger project that will introduce fans to new sounds and influences. Harnoor has been collaborating with musicians in the U.S. and, with Mass Appeal as his new partner and believes this new sound will connect with listeners around the world. “I haven’t been very active this year because I’ve been focused on making new music and handling things behind the scenes,” Harnoor says. “But now, I’m ready to give my fans what they’ve been waiting for.”
