The song follows the Mumbai-based singer-songwriter’s four-track EP ‘Raat,’ released earlier this year
Two years ago, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Aanchal Shrivastava quit her corporate job to pursue music full time. Since then, she’s gone on to release a couple of singles, sing on jingles and web series Four More Shots Please! as well as release her four-track debut EP Raat, earlier this year. Now, Shrivastava is back with her latest folksy single “Chithi Khat Aur Tum.”
The latest track stemmed out of a casual jam session that was soon forgotten about. Shrivastava says, “My brother said, ’What’s happening to ‘Chithi Khat?’” That’s when the singer-songwriter decided to work on it. According to her, the song is about things people want in love. Sonically, the track has a melancholic vibe and soulful feel while the singer’s vocals shine bright.
Away from writing her own music, Shrivastava also runs TAA Music Label. Handling multiple artists has been refreshing for her and even a learning experience. “It has given me so much fresh air to breathe,” says the vocalist. Next, the musician is lining up another single for early 2021 called “Sajan Ji.” She says, “I think I only want to speak in music, with music and be known for my music henceforth.”
