Amy Lee, frontwoman of veteran hard rockers Evanescence, has released a brand new track titled “Speak To Me.” Composed and written by Lee for the upcoming film Voice From The Stone, the song marks a return to her signature style of powerhouse vocals combined with delicate piano and is reminiscent of some of Evanescence’s biggest hits like “My Immortal” (2000) and “Lithium” (2006) at certain points.
Slated to release on April 28th, Voice From The Stone is a psychological thriller set in set in 1950s Tuscany and stars Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke. The story follows a nurse as she tries to help a young boy come to terms with his mother’s death. A dark and haunting ballad to fit the tone of the movie, “Speak To Me” is vastly different from Lee’s previous single “Love Exists”; a brighter, more synth-heavy track Lee surprised fans with on February 21st.
In 2016 Lee had explored a gentler side of her musicianship by releasing a children’s album titled Dream Too Much, before joining Evanescence for a month-long fall tour.
