Hear Arrangers Theory Two-Track Experimental EP ‘The Homecoming’

The Pune/Jodhpur band showcase a variety of sonic influences on the record

Recently, Pune/Jodhpur experimental/fusion band Arrangers Theory dropped their debut two-track EP The Homecoming. The outfit – formed by musicians and composers Lakshay Sharma and Indrajeet Handique – spoke to Rolling Stone India about the songs, what they have in store next and more. Read Excerpts:

What can you tell us about The Homecoming?

Sharma: The Homecoming as an album comprising two very contrasting songs. ‘Churmo’ speaks about a mother’s unconditional love for her children, and it’s a song full of homecoming emotions. The lyrics of the song are in rustic Marwari, while the music is contemporary. It is a fusion of Rajasthani folk music with some pop, blues, jazz and a pinch of Indian classical.

Handique: ‘Native Detox’ on the other hand, has an experimental approach that has been compiled fusing folk-electro house elements. The track explains the feeling to be home, the peace and solace one enjoys far away from the madding crowd, from the everyday grind and materialistic world. Being at home has a calming effect which also helps one in detoxifying the mental clutter.

Where did you record the EP?

Sharma: We’ve had multiple recording venues. Initially, we recorded at our audio college studios, Seamless Education in Pune, and a lot of stuff you’re listening to is mostly home studio recorded.

What’s next for Arrangers Theory?

Handique: We are planning to serve people with more experimental pieces and arrangements while featuring a lot of artists around the circuit. Spreading a great sonic experience.
