As fans await Britney Spears’ recently announced new single “Pretty Girls,” the pop star’s throwback collaboration with Italian disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder has leaked. For Déjà Vu, the producer’s first album in 30 years, Spears covers Suzanne Vega’s 1987 a cappella hit “Tom’s Diner.”

The reenergized cover of the Eighties classic makes the song even more sonically dynamic, with Spears evoking Vega’s subdued, almost deadpan, delivery. Spears joins a number of Top 40 staples who contribute to Moroder’s return to music, including Kylie Minogue, Charli XCX and Sia, who sings on the LP’s title track “Déjà Vu.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Moroder teased the “Tom’s Diner” cover, noting that it was Spears’ idea. “Britney came to my management company with the idea to do a particular song with me, which was interesting because usually it’s the other way, with the producer offering a song,” said the artist best known for his work with Donna Summer. Though he couldn’t reveal which song they had worked on together at the time, Moroder did note that that “it’s a song which came out about 30 years ago as an a cappella, just a voice.”

Spears’ last release was 2013’s Britney Jean. In the interim, the performer has been headlining her own show in Las Vegas titled Britney: Piece of Me. Though originally slated to be a two-year stint at Planet Hollywood, she announced last fall that she had renewed her contract for an additional two years. Though “Pretty Girls” has been confirmed, Spears has not revealed any additional information on a follow-up to Britney Jean.
