The American rapper features on the trap and hip-hop production, anchored in chugged metal riffs
Chennai’s 20-year-old beatsmith Someone Else aka Jessenth Ebenezer nods to metal, trap and hip-hop influences on his latest track “Big Talk (Next Level)” featuring Rhode Island-bred rapper Peter Piffen’s booming delivery.
Released via Italian label Rising Wave Records, “Big Talk (Next Level)” arrives to showcase more diversity for Ebenezer, who previously dived into hardstyle and different electronic sub-genres under the moniker Someone Else as well as his own name. “As part of the plan for this year, it was always going to be about exploring newer styles and wanting to put unique stuff out relative to what my discography has been so far.”
Piffen, who shot to fame in 2016 with his album Happy Camper with producer Larry Ohh, connected with Ebenezer through a mutual beatmaker friend. “I was absolutely blown away by this man’s talent and work ethic and I pounced upon the chance to add him to my clientele as I started managing his project,” Ebenezer says. The song “Big Talk (Next Level)” was coincidental, in that the producer says it materialized “out of nowhere.” As Piffen announces at the start of the track, he intends to do something different over a booming beat. The track builds up to assist Piffen’s flow but the drop brings in machine gun-like metal riffs and trap action.
The three-minute track might be a heavy turn for Ebenezer but he’s about to change that once again. There’s a lo-fi EP coming up soon. The first track, titled “Chaos Theory,” will be out on September 13th via U.K.’s copyright free music label Outertone.
