Post-rock epic featured on band's upcoming 'The Wilderness' LP
Explosions in the Sky run the gamut from freak-out to respite with “Logic of a Dream,” a dynamic new track from their sixth studio LP, The Wilderness, out April 1st. The six-minute instrumental epic ”“ which premiered Monday via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show ”“ culminates with a synthesizer atmosphere that builds into skyrocketing post-rock and fades into chiming indie-rock guitars.
In January, the quartet announced the John Congleton-produced The Wilderness ”“ their first non-soundtrack project since 2011’s Take Care, Take Care, Take Care ”“ and released the thunderous “Disintegration Anxiety” for streaming and as a pre-order instant download.
Explosions in the Sky recently revealed a round of UK/Ireland tour dates starting April 19th in Glasgow. The jaunt will include a performance at North Carolina’s Moogfest and a headlining slot at London’s Royal Albert Hall. A complete show list is available at the band’s website.
The quartet made headlines last week by tweeting that they were “absolutely not OK” with Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz using their music in a campaign video, which was subsequently taken down.
“Temporary Residence and Explosions In The Sky issued an immediate takedown of the Ted Cruz campaign video, as it violates the artist and label’s copyrights,” Temporary Residence, the band’s label, wrote in a statement, Pitchfork reports. “No attempt was made by Ted Cruz’s campaign to seek permission to use this song. All uses of Explosions In The Sky’s music in Ted Cruz’s campaign are illegal and in direct violation of U.S. Copyright law.”
