Hear Faasley’s New Acoustic Rock Single ‘Waqt’

‘The song talks about the various phases in life and the guilt we tend to carry around with us,’ says the Mumbai/Hyderabad band

When vocalist Varun Dhabe, guitarist Parth Yadav and percussionist Shashank Joshi met at Army Public School in Bolarum, Secunderabad, the trio immediately connected. However, with all of them coming from an army background, meant that traveling to different places was inevitable. “We hardly met each other in person,” says Dhabe. The group would jam using their phones and share song ideas with one another via WhatsApp. The vocalist adds, “That is how Faasley came about, it means distance.” Recently, the Mumbai/Hyderabad band released their new acoustic rock offering titled “Waqt” via label TMT Records.

The new song opens with gentle acoustic guitar strumming before we hear the band build in dynamics with Dhabe’s soaring vocals, Yadav’s hooky electric guitar parts and a solid groove from Joshi holding the song together. According to the band, the track touches upon one’s phases in life and the guilt a person lives with. Dhabe says, “The song reflects upon such experiences that render us helpless and engulfed in sadness.” He adds, “However, by the mere process of trying, we make ourselves worthy of our forgiveness. The song emphasizes that ‘trying’ is mankind’s most important trait.”

“Waqt” has been recorded in multiple cities including Nagpur, Secunderabad, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Trinidad and Tobago while Aman Moroney and Ashish Manchanda produced, mixed and mastered it. “They’ve played a great role in shaping our music and us,” says Dhabe. Next, Faasley is gearing up to release more music and also eager to perform live once things go back to normal due to the coronavirus. “Without the technology that we have right now, we wouldn’t have been able to collaborate and make our music,” says Dhabe.
