Hear Karsh Kale and Komorebi Conjure Digital Dreams on ‘Disappear’

The multi-instrumentalist brings together a buoyant, tabla-infused soundscape for New Delhi vocalist and producer Tarana Marwah

It’s been more than a couple of years since New York multi-instrumentalist composer and producer Karsh Kale released his album Up, but he’s keeping busy. After working on songs for hip-hop-centered Bollywood movie Gully Boy which released earlier this year, Kale joined long-time collaborator Gaurav Raina aka Grain (from electronica veterans Midival Punditz) and producer-singer Tarana Marwah aka Komorebi to create a soundscape for TV series Made In Heaven.

Turns out Kale took his association one step further by calling on Marwah for his latest single, “Disappear.” Released on July 31st via music platform JioSaavn’s Artist Originals imprint, “Disappear” blends a bass-laden, trip-hop informed sound with Kale’s signature electronic fusion elements, set to Marwah’s wistful vocals. Kale said in a statement about the track, “Working with Komorebi, who brought a fresh indie aesthetic to the studio, allowed for the creation of something that is simultaneously modern and nostalgic. It’s layered with harmonic melodies and synth work that allows the listener to traverse new sounds, while connecting to a lyrical story that I think everyone can relate to.”

Marwah says the song only took a couple of days to put together. “I’m positive we got the creative best out of each other and hope to work more with Karsh Kale in the future,” she added in her statement. A kaleidoscopic video, created by Berlin-based illustrator and visual artist Archan Nair (who’s also worked with the likes of American pop-punk band Carousel Kings), can be watched below. Nair also worked on the single artwork.
