Hear MONSTA X’s Melancholic New Single ‘One Day’

Following their June 2021 EP 'One Of A Kind,' the South Korean sextet make their comeback with an all-English track

Bosses of all things bass-boosted and hip-hop, Monsta X change things around to channel their deepest conflictions in their latest pop-ballad comeback, “One Day.”

With wistful lyrics yearning for the comfort of a long-lost lover, “One Day” sees the sextet employ soothing vocal variations to emote sentiment and longing. Composed by Jake Davis, Samuel Anthony Klempner and Chelsea Lena, the track narrates the story of a person spiraling over the untimely death of their relationship: “But right now I’m drunk, right now I’m wasted/ Spilling out my guts to the ghost in our apartment.” Seeming foolishly wishful, they hold onto the hopeful end of the straw, yearning to meet their significant other again; “Mmm, they say hindsight’s 20/20/ Maybe I’ll, maybe I’ll see you one day/ One day, one day, I will.”

Keeping the visuals sleek and minimalist, the music video sees the members brood in the empty rooms of a home they once shared with their love interest. With treasured memories scattered in the forms of polaroids and video cassettes, the video concludes with the group looking up to a pitch-black sky painted with bright pink sparks from a firework display–hinting towards a brighter future that’s brewing around the corner.

“One Day” is Monsta X’s first English track since the release of their sixth LP and first English language album All About Luv which dropped in 2020.
