Vocalist-guitarist Raghav Meattle features on the song
After a few video releases for the rustic “Saving All My Love,” the blissful “Dark Red Lines” and melancholic “As The Ship Sails,” Mumbai singer-songwriter Vernon Noronha is back with his first official single, the bubbly “Dream Sandwich.”
His first since 2016’s debut EP Closer To Home, “Dream Sandwich” came about through Noronha’s own experience of interpreting his dreams. He says, “I came across a book about interpreting dreams. I went a little deeper into it and then I got into this phase of sleep paralysis which basically happens because you become aware of certain things.” He adds, “Before sleeping I used to be like I need to know what to dream about today and that leads to lucid dreaming which leads to sleep paralysis.”
The upbeat and cheerful track also features vocals by fellow Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Raghav Meattle. At times, Meattle and Noronha’s tones match so well they sound like peas in a pod. Ask Noronha how he paired up with Meattle and he says, “Its nothing to do with the theme of the song, I just wanted somebody to collaborate with and Raghav’s voice suited the song.” Noronha also tells us that Meattle brought his own ideas to the track, “With Raghav you can tell him what to do but the great thing about him is he will tell you with his own experience what might work better.” For Meattle, he has been a fan of Noronha’s work since before he became a musician himself and was extremely pumped to sing on the track. “He’s [Noronha] such a great writer and his melodic choices are amazing, especially harmonies,” says Meattle.
“Dream Sandwich” was recorded at bassist-producer Leron D’souza’s Rajania Studio in Mumbai and mixed and mastered by sound engineer Malay Vadalkar. Drums were recorded by Kristofor Mendonca from ertswhile Mumbai rock band The Mavyns. Up next for Noronha is to begin work on his debut album Marie which is slated for release in 2020.
