Hyderabad-bred and now Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Pragya Sodhani’s parents enrolled her for singing classes for a very interesting reason — as a child, she used to scream a lot. The artist says, “My parents thought that the only way to save my vocal cords would be to make better use of it.” Since then, Sodhani along with her sister Chhavi managed to score a scholarship via Pt. Jasraj Ji through the Rotary Club of Hyderabad. That managed to open doors for the young artist and found her performing within India and abroad alongside some of the country’s big names in music including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Leslie Lewis and Sajid-Wajid, as well as gig extensively with her sister as Parindey.

After working with New Delhi guitar maverick Dhruv Visvanath on her uplifting 2021 debut single “Tu Mera Hai?” the singer-songwriter has once again tapped the musician to produce her latest offering — the calming “Raatein Soyi Hain.”

Sodhani wrote the new song while stuck at a farmhouse in Panvel during the first lockdown in 2020. The musician says, “I wrote this song thinking of lovers who were in long-distance relationships, in different cities or parts of the world and who felt a constant yearning for each other and questioned the nights and days of separation.”

The track features delicate guitar plucking, Sodhani’s quaint vocals, Visvanath’s elegant production touch and more. The singer-songwriter and producer worked remotely on the song, with Sodhani tracking her vocals at the farmhouse itself. On working with Visvanath, Sodhani says, “Dhruv is one the most talented indie artists I know and everyone who’s in the indie space knows. He’s such an amazing person to work with, extremely patient.”

While Sodhani is eager to perform her music to a live audience, she’s also planning on staying consistent when it comes to releasing her material. She says, “I want to continue to learn because there is just no end to that.” She adds, “These are baby steps to a larger goal but I’m glad I could dive within myself to discover this about me. This is just the beginning.”
