Hear Rohit Vasudevan’s New Pop-Jazz Single ‘Woh’
The track is off the Mumbai-based singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album ‘Intezaar’
Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Rohit Vasudevan’s tryst with music began when he was in the fourth grade, learning the tabla and harmonium. From writing poems and then songs, and becoming a self-taught guitarist, Vasudevan went on to study music and has been composing ever since. Through the years, the musician has gone on to play a plethora of gigs and was even part of talent contest NEXA Music’s Top 24 in 2020. Now, the musician and his band, Rohit Vasudevan Diaries, is out with the first single off their upcoming eight-track album Intezaar in the shape of the pop-jazz track “Woh.”
Vasudevan penned the song a few years ago after coming across a “beautiful girl” at one of his gigs. He says, “The way she walked inspired the hook line of the song. The lyrics talk about the beauty of the mystery woman I met who inspired me to write this song.” The track itself includes lush acoustic guitar strumming, percussive brushes, tons of honeyed harmonies as well as his excellent crooning vocals.
“Woh” was recorded at Pune’s Gray Spark Audio. While Vasudevan handled vocals and acoustic guitar duties, musicians such as keyboardist Zion Mathew, saxophonist Mahendra Kumar, bassist Amit Gadgil and drummer Saket Rao also contributed to the track. The song was mixed by Saurabh Lodha and Ronak Runwal mastered it.
Talking about his upcoming album, Vasudevan says, “It’s been a long wait to get this out in the world, so nothing seemed more apt than naming the album Intezaar with the album having a song with the same name which I am really excited for.”
