When we saw Mumbai musician Saten perform at an open jam at city-based venue Door No. 1 recently, his breeziness and pleasant demeanor mixed with his soulful singing immediately caught our attention. “I don’t like to think too much while I am playing, because music means freedom to me, while I am at it, I am free,” he says. Now, the singer-songwriter is out with his debut single, the acoustic-led “Feel Them Blues.”

According to the musician, the song was penned with the idea that people from all walks of life go through hurdles no matter where they come from. He says, “If you actually endure and face them rather than running away from them, eventually, you will get through them and see a better light.” He adds, “The song also talks about being one as a species.”

“Feel Them Blues” was recorded at Mumbai’s Crazy Recording Studio and produced by Dhruv Kathuria who also played bass, produced and mastered the track. The song was mixed by Itek Bhutani. Saten admits to us that he is still learning and understanding how things in the indie music scene work. “I have been doing regular open mics across the town, gathering more reach and support. The other indie musicians that I’ve met through these events have been really supportive,” he says.

Next, the musician has a music video in the pipeline for “Feel Them Blues” and is also prepping work for an upcoming EP. On moving ahead in the music scene, he says, “My aim is to put up a blues trio and the ultimate goal, the dream, is to play at the Mahindra Blues Festival.”
