There’s quite a bit to unpack with teenaged singer-songwriter Izora aka Shreya Jaswal. For starters, she has synesthesia, which allows her to associate colors with every sound. She says, “I feel colors, so when I’m sad I might feel ‘red’ Or I might feel ‘black’ when I’m confused. This has helped me massively with songwriting.”

It’s certainly mirrored the moody, matured tunes that she’s been releasing, the fourth single being a darkly cinematic song called “Die Inside,” produced by Rome-based Lorenzo Celata. Izora can tell you exactly when she came up with the idea for the song, while noodling on a bass riff “at 2:46am on the 21st of July.” Taking inspiration from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Linkin Park, Billie Eilish and Lorde, there’s alt-pop and rock offerings with previously released tracks like “Feel Better,” “Grey” and “Midnight.”

She’s still learning how to produce music, but has been mostly connecting with beatmakers from all around the globe for songs so far. While plotting the self-production route for her future material, Izora is also keen to move to Los Angeles for higher studies next year. She adds, “I tested positive for Covid-19 last month (I’m healthy and negative now!) but that experience taught me to me grateful for life in general so I would want to continue the rest of 2020 with that mindset. I don’t know what’s gonna happen in 2021 but I just want to keep growing musically and as a person.”
