Hosted by Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul, the evening also spotlighted the diversity and power of regional cinema, drawing eyeballs towards the cultural diversity and compelling stories the industry has to offer.

The entertainment quotient of the evening was amplified through exhilarating performances from Indian cinemas sought-after actors Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh. While Salman Khan embodied the spirit of India through a curated selection of mighty tracks such as the patriotic-intensified “Suno Gaur Se Duniya Walo,” “Zinda Hoon Main Tujhme” and one of his fiery dance record “Swag Se Karenge Sabka Swagat,” Ranveer Singh paid a poignant tribute to different iconic eras of Indian Cinema

In India, cinema is an emotion, the very epitome of passion and expression, Salman Khan reflects on what cinema signifies. He continues, “With my performance, we are celebrating 75 years of Independence of India through the lens of cinema; the spirit of India – the hard-hitting, the easy-going, and the compassionate. It’s an ode to the diversity of our culture and Indian Cinema.”

Ranveer Singh keeps the atmosphere nostalgic with an energetic performance of a cascade of era-defying hits. He kicks off his performance with Mithun Chakraborty 1982 delightfully groovy anthemDisco Dancer,” Retro high morphs into patriotism with Mohammed Rafi, S.Balbir’s “Yeh Desh Hai Veer Jawanon Ka”. With additional sonic successes such as Kishore Kumar’s evergreen “Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana” and Vishal Dadlani’s quintessential Bollywood song “Malhari,” Ranveer Singh embodied the vast emotional quotient that Bollywood’s music industry entails.

Contemplating on the cinema’s power, Ranveer Singh credits the “spirit and inclusivity” of the industry, allowing it to gain “global recognition.” “The might of cinema can be felt when we see how it has nurtured and preserved some of the iconic moments from our rich culture,” he continues. ” With my performance, we are showcasing the era-defining moments of Indian cinema and celebrating 75 glorious years of India’s independence.”

Performances from actors Shraddha Kapoor, Riteish & Genelia Deshmukh and Mouni Roy maintain the spirited momentum of the night. Commemorating the fearless spirit of ever-evolving Marathi cinema, Ritesh and Genelia introspect on the vast, untapped potential of Marathi cinema; “Marathi cinema is rich with culture and their stern roots in the traditional theatre drama. It has one of the most inspiring stories there is,” Ritesh comments. “Adapting to the changing environment, Marathi cinema has closely listened to the voice of the audience and experimented with the content to sustain in the ever-evolving world of entertainment. And the emergence of different entertainment platforms have been a catalyst for the Marathi cinema to reach much wider audiences.”

Genelia weighs in on representing the Maharashtrian culture through her performance, ” I have always been inspired by the vast universe of cinema and how it extends to any and everyone in the world,” she says. “Talking about one strong figment from the wide showcase of cinema that broke moulds and had quite a growth journey, is Marathi cinema. I personally think, Marathi cinema has a stronghold over their history and culture from which they base all their new adventures. So, with our performance, Riteish and I have tried to channel that energy and transmit it to the masses.”
