#HitsOfTomorrow – A Weekly Rundown of the ‘Should-Be’ Hits

Looking beyond the star-studded collabs of The Weeknd and Ariana Grande to Shakira and Karol G, here are our top picks this week

Feb 25, 2023

How is it already the last weekend of February? Well, the shorter month doesn’t mean slimmer pickings because we have major new single releases this week, with Halsey returning to her Top 40 roots with “Die 4 Me” while Jonas Brothers follow Bebe Rexha’s vibe from last week with the very Seventies-inspired “Wings.”

Of course, beyond these two streaming mainstays, the week is hot full of collabs we didn’t know we needed! The Weeknd teased earlier in the week that he and Ariana Grande were coming together again – this time it’s for a remix of his Starboy LP era smash “Die For You” which became a viral tune last year and well, I guess they both just want a number one hit this year, which this release will likely give them. Shakira is also busier than ever, now collabing with KAROL G on “TQG” – another smash much? Then we have Chloe teaming up with Chris Brown for 2023’s version of “No Air” in the form of “How Does It Feel.”

While none of these tracks likely need any more attention here at HITS OF TOMORROW, we’re giving you our picks for the best of other releases that might sneak under our radar but are all potential should-be hits! So without further ado, here goes. See you in March!

“In The Morning” – Imanbek, Trevor Daniel

Grammy-winning producer Imanbek returns to glory with “In The Morning” featuring Trevor Daniel. The two collaborated before in 2020 (with Don Diablo) on “Kill Me Better” but this is actually the better track. The single actually feels perfect for the upcoming spring/summer months and Daniel hasn’t sounded this relaxed and dare I say dull in quite some time. The track is likely to get folks at festivals going as much as it will get Top 40 excited. Here’s hoping we get to hear this each morning in the coming weeks on the radio!

“BRUISES” – Reneé Rapp

From starring in Mean Girls on Broadway to TV’s hit Sex Lives Of College Girls to now a Top 40 hit with “Too Well,” Reneé Rapp has come a long way in a relatively short time frame. While that single is still climbing the global charts, she’s released a deluxe edition of her Everything To Everyone album featuring the I-hope-is-next-single “Bruises.” The singer exudes personality and heart that seems to be sorely lacking on Top 40 right now and the single gives the audience a genuine chance to enjoy a slice of authenticity not tied behind a big name or manufactured creator but a genuine talent who is becoming more and more likely the next big multi-hyphenated threat!

“Steal The Show” – SHAUN, Jeff Staur

I love seeing fellow Asians coming together and here we have Korean singer-songwriter and producer SHAUN joining forces with Thai actor and singer-songwriter Jeff Satur for “Steal The Show.” The song works to both artists’ strengths – it’s a straightforward pop/rock grower that transcends any ethnic profile as it works brilliantly on radio, any streaming playlist and well, both talents truly deserve a global hit with this one!

“22” – JayO

Speaking of coming together, it feels like there are all kinds of musical marriages happening of late that finally allow music to break barriers in sonic ways we never thought would be as easily accepted on mainstream radio and Top 40. Of course the way there is often through content creation, but that’s another story. Rising R&B star JayO is the perfect example of this. “22” infuses his Brit soul roots with the Afrobeat rhythms of his Nigerian background. It works beautifully to create a most organic blend of styles that feels all him but also very current!

“Higher Than This” – Vallis Alps

We’ve been waiting quite a while for this but Vallis Alps continue to build the hype for their debut feature-length LP Cleave with “Higher Than This,” their strongest track yet. The electronic duo have matured since their 2017 EP Fable and it shows not just sonically but also in the maturity and content of the empowering lyrics. It would be amazing to hear 2023 be their true global breakthrough year – this song is a big step forward to making that a reality!

Even More Hits!

“THE WORLD IS YOURS” – Willy P

“SWEET LIME” – Muroki

“I WANNA BE ALIVE” – Clea
