#HitsOfTomorrow – A Weekly Rundown Of The “Should-Be” Hits

From Anitta, Sam Ryder, Zedd, MILLI, Vaultboy and many more

Published by

We are almost closing out the summer with just a couple more weeks left – but the hits keep coming. This week we see the return of Blackpink, who are sure to take a global bite with their instant smash “Pink Venom”. Beyond the K-pop ladies, we also have the return of Demi Lovato who releases their HOLY FVCK album, far more rock ‘n’ roll than the dreamy pop of their older catalogue. While audiences may initially be hesitant to embrace the star this time around, the music works and that should lead to grand sales. Meanwhile, here, we celebrate this week’s Hits Of Tomorrow – the should-be hits that deserve that little extra juice of attention!

“Lobby” – Anitta, Missy Elliott

So Anitta doesn’t really need much additional hype but honestly, her English music does. And anything that features Missy Elliott needs to be lauded because for too long, the former MVP female rapper has been relegated to the sidelines. “Lobby” aligns Elliott perfectly to Anitta’s sass and spirit. The disco-pop track should hopefully finally catapult the Brazilian star to Top 40 chart rule and we’re all for it. The fall has its first smash!

“Somebody” –Sam Ryder

Eurovision 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder is back and his latest is a catchy, soulful celebration. With a debut album slated for release later in the year, “Somebody” is the perfect vehicle Ryder needed to not just make the Brits happy but the rest of the world, too. The joyful track is a winner from the get-go and the music video adds even more fun to the mix. If there is justice, Ryder will win the Top 40 battle and the track will become a staple on radio for months to come.

“Make You Say” –Zedd, Maren Morris, Beauz

After their smash collaboration on “The Middle,” Zedd and Maren Morris reunite for “Make You Say.” The track also features sibling DJs Bernie and Johan Yang aka Beauz) and has been co-written by Charlie Puth. The melodiousness that we previously heard on “The Middle” is here again and it appears that lightning can indeed strike twice, since the single has just as much potential. Morris managed to garner a Top 40 hit on her own and Zedd lately has done some incredible collaborations, but none have reached the heights of “The Middle”. It’s likely that “Make You Say” will see both artists smiling at the top of the charts.

“Mind Games” – MILLI, Jackson Wang

Thai rapper MILLI joins forces with Jackson Wang for “Mind Games” for 88 Rising. The single, on paper, really shouldn’t work but somehow the track, written by Gallant and produced by Monsters & Strangers, hits all the right notes, making a for a single that has the chance to break through and become a global smash much like Wang’s “Blow” did earlier this year. It’s exciting to see so many collaborations across the globe making listeners aware of the diversity of music and musicians. “Mind Games” is a winner.

“why you gotta be like that” –Vaultboy, Nightly

Vaultboy’s latest “why you gotta be like that” features the pop trio Nightly and the tender single is just the right track to boost the Florida talent onto the mainstream charts. While most TikTok artists fail to deliver personal records that go beyond the 15-second sensibility, the track is a perfect display of what to do right! Lyrically strong, sonically pleasing, this is an old-school hit in a new-style package. Add this to your playlists today.
