#HitsOfTomorrow: A Weekly Rundown Of The ‘Should-Be’ Hits ft Cage the Elephant, Mumford & Sons and More

Plus, the latest from Zara Larsson, Dhruv, Maggie Lindemann, ALYSSA, Mitchell Tenpenny, NMIXX and Kungs

Green Day has been in the news lately after they altered the lyrics to their hit “American Idiot” sparking outrage among the American conversative. The timing couldn’t have been better, frankly, as it reminded one and all of the power of musicians and its intertwining with politics.

Saviors, their latest LP proves just that, marking a triumphant return to call by the trio, easily instantly proving to be one of their best albums as there are enough songs here to sing along to for years to come.

The album will likely kickstart a whole new younger generation’s appreciation for their music and hopefully Top 40 will still give them shelf space. Ahh, ageism, the last permitted ‘okay’ in pop music.

While we will see if the rockers face the same kind of stonewall that stopped Kylie Minogue last year, let’s get things going with the SHOULD-BE hits that won’t that fight but other ones altogether. Here are this week’s #HitsOfTomorrow.

Zara Larsson – “You Love Who You Love”

Independent Zara has finally come into her own and this track further cements that!

Mumford & Sons, Pharrell Williams – “Good People”

The thumping beat and the Native Vocalists choir make this interesting pairing work.

Dhruv – “Tragedy”

Soulful, sensual and sophisticated – an old school winner.

ALYSSA – “Tequila”

It’s so insanely catchy, it can’t NOT be a smash!

Cage The Elephant – “Neon Pill”

The band’s five-year hiatus is over and we get a retro-laced bop that sounds groovy fresh today.

Mitchell Tenpenny – “Breaking My Heart”

John Mayer comparisons aside, this is a true Top 40 record blending country pop rock and soul together seamlessly.

NMIXX – “DASH”

Easily the boldest and best track the group has ever released.

Kungs, David Guetta, Izzy Bizu – “All Night Long”

An instant smash due to nostalgia, but Bizu’s vocals take it to another exciting dimension.

Maggie Lindemann – “hostage”

It’s as if Lindemann is performing a Linkin Park track but the emotions are purely hers.
