#HitsOfTomorrow: Bob Moses, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Foxes and More

Erstwhile pop group Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui teams up with rapper 6LACK for a song off her solo debut record

This week has seen a flock of big-time releases including the latest from Travis Scott, Silk Sonic and The Weeknd with Post Malone. While they all are likely to shoot straight to the top of the charts, we’re going to take a look at some of the other new and noteworthy singles just released that in a perfect world, should become the hits of tomorrow.

“Time And Time Again” – Bob Moses

While my love for Bob Moses (the Vancouver-bred duo of Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance) has been strong since the get-go, I feel like they are finally getting the attention they so rightfully deserve. With a North American headlining tour set for 2022, it’s about time we got a new release from them and “Time and Time Again” does not disappoint. Always perfectly able to combine the emotional heft of their pop melodies with house music, their first new single in nearly two years gets us wanting to dance again. For the band, the song has special meaning as it was inspired by the loss of someone close to them gone too soon. It would be criminal for the single not to become a Top 40 mainstay.

“3D Feelings” – Alfie Templeman

The up-and-coming British singer-songwriter is back with the incredibly infectious “3D Feelings.” It’s hard not to instantly feel like the song belongs on the radio and with the right push, the track should. The funky track was produced with Will Bloomfield and The Vaccine’s frontman Justin Young. The 18-year-old is surely one to watch for as he preps his debut album. These days, there are just a handful of artists at the top of the charts, here’s hoping Templeman can make his way there with this standout track.

“Sky Love” – Foxes

Foxes aka Louisa Rose Allen hasn’t seen the career trajectory we all thought she’d have after hitting it big while featured on Zedd’s “Clarity.” But that doesn’t mean she’s slowed down or not released music that didn’t deserve the recognition. Here, as she prepares to release her next album Kick in early 2022, Foxes sings about being consumed by, craving for love. “Sky Love” is instantly memorable and fits perfectly into the current pop landscape. Does it have a chance? In a perfect world, absolutely.

“Face Down In The Moment” – Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

White-boy soul when done right…well it can be electric. With their latest album The Future just out, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats make a damn good argument for why folk-soul is so important. There’s literally nothing out there on radio right now like this and who doesn’t want to hear Rateliff’s soulful growl as he emotes through the particularly beautiful single “Face Down In The Moment.” One wished that somewhere between the weekly race between Justin Bieber and The Weeknd dropping yet another song or collaboration, we’d get to hear this.

“On Guard” – Lauren Jauregui, 6LACK

For me, Normani’s real breakthrough came with “Waves” featuring 6LACK, so it’s no surprise then that here her former Fifth Harmony bandmate, Lauren Jauregui finally shines in the same way. “On Guard” works because of its simplicity and lets Jauregui just sing the song soulfully, no bells and whistles – something that suits her and lets the emotions for the track speak for itself. Radio has been hesitant with her previous efforts and despite a large fan base, she’s not quite had the “hit” many expected. With her EP Prelude having just dropped, “On Guard” stands the best chance and it rightfully deserves it.

On the cusp…here are three more new releases we hope to see go far!

“Heavy” – Flight Facilities, Your Smith

“Love In The Club” – JVCK JAMES

“Soufside” – Latto
