#HitsOfTomorrow: Petit Biscuit, Olly Alexander, Liam Payne and More

This week's rundown of the ‘should-be’ hits includes new music from Albin Lee Meldau, Cat Burns, Griff, Trey Lewis and others

We start a new month with some new Miley Cyrus. Teaming up with Pharrell Williams, Cyrus gives us “Doctor (Work It Out)” – while it’s no “Flowers”, it is a slice of urban pop that feels so 10 years ago (reportedly this was written pre-Bangerz era). Nonetheless the track still works cause Cyrus’ vocals are always strong.

And speaking of eras of before, Cardi B returns with “Like What (Freestyle)” that prominently samples Missy Elliott’s “She’s A Bitch.” The rapper hasn’t been heard since her tepidly-received collab with Megan Thee Stallion “Bongos” and the single is likely to revive the artist and shoot her back to the top.

Tracks also likely to impact the charts in a big way are Twenty-One Pilots “Overcompensate” and Charli XCX’s “Von Dutch.” With that said, let’s have a look at this week’s #HITSOFTOMORROW, the SHOULD-BE hits of the week.

Artist: Olly Alexander

Song: Dizzy

“The Years & Years singer is aiming for the Eurovision prize with the UK’s official entry. Will it win, we’ll see…regardless it’s 100% a smash hit”

Artist: Albin Lee Meldau

Song: Elvis, I Love You

“Meldau’s vocals soar on this incredibly catchy single that should catapult the artist to global Top 40 heights”

Artist: Cat Burns

Song: alone

“An anthemic chorus takes this already solid single into huge Top 40 hit territory… programmers take note!”

Artist: Petit Biscuit

Song: Bad Episode

“Another gem from Petit Biscuit that radio would be foolish not to directly add to their playlists”

Artist: Liam Payne

Song: Teardrops

“Payne finally does the one thing his solo career hadn’t thus far, giving us heartfelt vocals we haven’t heard since 1D days”

Artist: Mae Stephens

Song: Make Me Your Mrs

“Continuing to give us bops that are both clever and incredibly catchy… expect to hear this one all through summer”

Artist: Nippa, SHOW N PROVE

Song: Around The World

“The modern/retro R&B vibe here is hypnotic and we need to make room for some new male soul artists on the charts”

Artist: Trey Lewis

Song: Troublemaker

“Country pop is really filling a hole that’s been vacant from Top 40 and Lewis has found the right sweet spot”

Artist: Griff

Song: Miss Me Too

“Griff’s single is just what Top 40 has been missing, a slice of luscious progressive modern pop!”
