Shlomo during his India gig last year

If you found yourself, watching with mouth gaping wide, two certain Human beatboxing gigs in the city these past few years, and came out thinking you’d love to take your vocal chords for a spin, then this is your golden opportunity. British Council in association with Zomba, Sony Music’s DAY 1 initiative is hosting Shlomo, the Human beatboxing champion to help curate India’s first all vocal beatboxing orchestra. Called Voctronica, the orchestra will be fronted by Shlomo and local-beatboxing hero Vishwesh Krishnamoorty. The beatboxing talent will be chosen on the basis of auditions being conducted by the organisers.

The top 10 finalists will be part of an eight-day training workshop in Mumbai in January 2012 conducted by Testament, a human beatboxer / MC and a member of the Lip Factory (Shlomo’s UK vocal project). The all new ensemble Voctronica will continue to be trained by Shlomo via Skype and will perform as the country’s first ever locally bred beatboxing troupe across India and in the UK in the first half of 2012.

You can participate by sending in your demos till December 16, after which the selection process will commence. For details on Voctronica and entries, log onto http://soundpad.britishcouncil.org.in/category/voctronica/ and  http://soundpad.britishcouncil.org.in/voctronica-registrations-open/
