HP is Revolutionizing Content Creation With HP ENVY 14 & Creator’s Garage
HP is enabling skilling and collaboration for content creators with its new Envy 14 Laptop and Creators Garage
The explosive growth of social media platforms in the past few years has given rise to a new trend in the personal computing space. One of the essential bits for a content creator’s arsenal is a solid laptop. Not just any laptop will do here. It has to satisfy a few key requirements. It must be light and compact, should possess a great display, robust GPU, and a good battery life for working on the go. One brand has seemingly stepped up to offer all that these content creators need. Say Hi to HP’s Envy series of laptops, specifically the new Envy 14. It ticks all the boxes and, importantly, comes at a price point that puts it right at the intersection of laptops as consumption devices and laptops as productivity tools, even if skewed heavily towards the latter.
HP has also announced its exclusive Creators’ Garage. The initiative will help budding content creators by allowing them to learn from renowned experts and collaborate with other like-minded creators. It is a one-of-a-kind program explicitly targeted at those in the business of creative content. The learning community will contain more than 200 pieces of content to help creators upskill, host forums to share thoughts and ideas with other creators as well as organise regular events and challenges for creators to collaborate on. Some renowned Indian creators who are a part of the community include Digital Creator Be YouNick, Author Alicia Souza, Youtuber Sejal Kumar, Graphic Designer Aniruddh Mehta.
So, what is it that makes the HP Envy 14 such an impressive device?
To start with, the laptop is smartly designed (straight cut lines and attractive colour scheme) and a compact device that easily blends in with whatever your workstation looks like. It is lightweight (1.49kg), with a tiny footprint, making it easy to use as you get around – for instance when commuting. Its sleek lines and unibody metal design are something you’d appreciate. Add the solid build quality, and you have got a laptop that is easy to move around, not just when working from home but also when you travel. The idea is that mobility and lack of space should not come in the way of creativity.
Then there is something you rarely find on compact laptops– an abundance of ports. Some laptops sacrifice ports for a thinner frame, but not this one. Envy 14 features two USB-A Gen 3.1 ports, a full HDMI port, a microSD card reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and one Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4. Creators would appreciate this. After all, seldom does it happen that your main work laptop that is typically
connected to an external monitor also doubles as your portable machine wherever you go.
Upping the creativity quotient
Packed into the compact form is a 14-inch WUXGA panel that gets as bright as 400 nits to ensure that you have a great viewing experience when on the move. Notably, the display covers 100 per cent of the sRGB colour gamut. While that might not mean much for most people, for a content creator, it is crucial.
Simply speaking, while editing a video or photo, you’d be able to get the colours closer to real life because of the well-calibrated display on the Envy 14. The 16:10 aspect ratio is also something you’d enjoy using while editing photos or videos. HP Display Control offers a multitude of display pre-sets for a variety of uses so you can have the correct display settings for the task at hand. Power-intensive tasks like video editing and graphics run without a hitch, and if you are looking at customizing applications, you don’t have to worry about the laptop’s ability to handle it without slowing down. The Bang & Olufsen speakers with the AI Noise Removal facility that cancels out background noise ensure crisp and excellent quality audio.
Armed with 11th-gen Intel i5 or i7 processors with NVMe SSDs, the HP Envy 14 is a powerful machine. The 16GB of RAM is standard on both the i5 and i7 versions. The laptop is designed and engineered to work flawlessly with Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite of content creation tools. Throw in the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650Ti, and it turns into a mobile workstation that brings with it the joy of unrestricted creativity and expression.
Despite being housed in a 14-inch chassis, the laptop has two fans to dissipate heat and keep it cool. An IR sensor accurately measures temperature and deploys the fans accordingly. And with so much power packed into such a form factor, you’d expect battery life to be severely compromised. But that is far from the case. The Envy 14 lasts an impressive battery life of 16 hours.
With such battery life, you can get through an entire workday without recharging especially in settings like on an airplane where plugging in isn’t an option. And when you do plug in, fast charging ensures that you are not stuck to a wall socket for too long. There are also convenience features like the HP QuickDrop for easy media transfer between your phone and the laptop.
While Envy 14 promises to be an exciting addition to a content creator’s work setup, the truth is that HP has invested so much effort in creating this compact, robust and feature-rich workhorse that it seems like a great laptop overall for anyone, regardless of the kind of work you do. Starting at Rs. 1,04,999, the laptop is a premium offering, but when you look at the specs on offer, you’d realize that the Envy 14 is excellent value for the price.
