Hyderabad Rockers So Much To Carry Jam Out at A Skate Park In ‘ToDoSo’ Video

The song is the band’s debut single

Hyderabad rock outfit So Much To Carry – consisting of vocalist-guitarist John Reynolds, guitarist Aaron Pranay, bassist Praharsha Deep and drummer Kevin Joseph — initially met each other while playing Gospel music in church and later bumped into one another at one of Mumbai/Auckland blues-rockers Blackstratblues’ gigs in 2019. Joseph says, “[At the gig we said to each other] Are we going to jam or what?” Three years on and the group are now out with their energetic debut single “ToDoSo.”

According to the band, the track had gone through numerous versions before they settled on the final one. “Building the structure for the song was fairly simple, it was written at a time when COVID was huge, and we felt that spreading love in these circumstances is okay. It captures the fact that there are always a million reasons to hate and to love, but we primarily have to empathize and offer the love and kindness that we would want when we need it,” says Reynolds. Sonically, the track includes crunchy guitar parts, pulsating grooves, steely vocals and catchy melodies. Mumbai multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Sidd Coutto mixed and mastered the song.

The song’s accompanying music video – directed by Nikhil Dalton – sees the band rocking out and performing the track at Hyderabad’s WallRide Skate Park. “We wanted to make a video in a cool location that reflects the mood of the song,” says Pranay.

Next, the band are planning to release their eponymous debut album and are even lining up as many gigs as they can. Deep says, “We are determined to support the independent music scene in Hyderabad and are proud to be a part of this community, we are committed to making our city a hub for independent music.”
