Noah Becker and Matt Baggiani originally wrote the song for the former’s wedding
When you’re writing an uplifting song with the title “Peace and Harmony,” cliches are like to crop up. For pop producer duo Icons 2 Ashes’ Noah Becker and Matt Baggiani, they just focused on the process of “being, feeling and executing on the inspiration itself.”
Capturing their cinematic pop sound, Becker says he wrote the song for his now wife Kaytee during one of many trips to the picturesque Mammoth Lakes town in California. It took over a year to finetunethe song to their satisfaction, leading with a choir and lead vocals, finally made in time for Becker and Kaytee’s first dance at their wedding in May this year. Baggiani adds, “As far as cliches et al, we just really try to leave our egos at the door, and communicate with honesty in the studio and create something that inspires us.”
Collaborating on several projects over the last five years, Icons 2 Ashes formally launched in 2019 with songs like “Introduction” and “Lights Awn.” Their latest release is a part of the just released EP Songs to Make You Feel Things. The four-track record also features songs like “Real Love,” which Baggiani points out was written “just before everything hit the fan, in late February of 2020,” referring to the pandemic-related shutdown of the world. The somber third track “Hollow,” featuring vocals from Californian artist Man 3 Faces aka Vincent Bowman, contains apt references specific to the pandemic.
Up next, the duo are putting finishing touches on a two-track EP project. “We will begin work on a full length album this summer,” Baggiani adds.
