Kolkata band does the graveyard shift in the music video for ‘Tourist’
Kolkata is yet to host Comic Con, but it seems that the city already has its share of cosplayers. In their latest video for “Tourist,” two-piece acoustic rockers Ifs And Buts are seen running around the city in red capes and bowties, playing pranks on each other.
Ifs And Buts released their self-titled debut EP in 2011. “Tourist,” which was shot in one night by Notsoabsolute Films (they’ve previously shot videos for Kolkata acts like electro rock bands Zoo and folk project Fiddler’s Green), will appear on the Kolkata band’s debut album, You’re A Story, which is slated to release this July. “”˜Tourist’ is about a place that is haunted by a girl who died there. It’s like a story in the form of a song if you follow the lyrics. For the video, we decided to keep it very random and the folks at Notsoabsolute talked us into wearing capes and playing pranks. It turned out great because the video is nearly opposite to what the song is about. To tell you the truth, we’re not very sure about the central idea behind the video but we love it,” says guitarist Subhodip Banerjee.Â
